Proactiveness helps in reviving phones from water damage. So, if you have not had a chance to know how to save your phone; here are some quick actions you need to follow to save your beloved phone in good time;
- Do Not Switch it on
The urge to switch on the phone immediately you pull it out of water can be overwhelming. You should not. Instead, let it stay switched off for at least 24 hours. Keeping it this way will a long way in preventing irreparable damage from a possible short circuit.
- Pull out the Sim Card and battery
Create room for water to escape by removing any removable parts like sim cards, headphones, battery and memory cards. Water will therefore not recede into the interior of the phone causing more damage and corrosion. You can use a blow drier to dry water near the surface. Silica gel packs bought at I fix phones can also help absorbing water.
- Evaporate the water contents
For the water remaining in the phone, you can try evaporating it by exposing the phone to sun heat, although I Fix phones does not recommend direct sunlight. Use a vacuum cleaner to suck out water or submerge the phone in uncooked dry rice for 24 hours to absorb water out of the phone completely.
